The Global Halal market is
expanding with the increase in the Muslim population, their higher purchasing
power, increasing economic development of Muslim nations and the demand for Halalan Toyyibban products which are safe, hygienic and wholesome. Based on the
Muslim population of 1.97 billion in 2011, the estimated size on the Global
Halal market is projected at USD779 billion (RM2,297 billion).
Recognising the vast
business potential of the Halal market, Malaysia through the Halal Industry Development
Corporation (HDC), envision to make Malaysia the Global Halal Hub. Various initiatives have been taken to strengthen Malaysia’s capabilities in Halal
integrity. There are a number of on-going development programmes to identify
focus sectors, strategies and initiatives to accelerate the growth of the Halal
industry.

Regional Development Authority (IRDA) endeavors in the establishment of the proposed Halal Hub in Iskandar Malaysia which can offer opportunities for the
Halal food and non-food products and poise to become a conducive regional hub,
designated for high-technology and modern factories for the production,
manufacture and processing of high quality. Halal products to meet the
